Bright Zinc Electroplating

The value of zinc as a rust-proof, high lustre, decorative finish for iron and steel has long been appreciated.

Zinc is almost always deposited in the fully bright condition where an attractive and corrosion resistant finish is required; this can be subsequently passivated or dyed.

The advantages of the electro deposited coating is a more uniform thickness than that produced by hot dip galvanizing, and does not cause distortion or fill up holes and obliterate threads and other fine details of the work.

Powder Coating

Powder coating is the process where polyester (or epoxy powder) is electrostatically deposited over the work and then cured in an oven baking process.

This process is widely used for finishing in the manufacturing industry and is proven to enhance the look and durability of manufactured items.

We have some of the latest equipment available and an oven that can accommodate objects up to 2m x 2m square by 6m deep. And we have a wide range of powder coat colours available and we can provide colour charts should you require them.

Curran Engineering Ltd was founded by John Curran in 1961 as a steel engineering business focusing on steel for structural support for large commercial buildings.

In 1976 a production manufacturing business was added to Curran Engineering to manufacture shop fittings for the shop fitting industry.

In 1988 and 1989 two of John’s sons Tom and Jeff joined the company and bought the company when John retired.

In 1990 we purchased a Bright Zinc Electroplating plant in order to bring the metal finishing of our shop fittings under our control, to speed up lead times and ensure a top quality product was produced.

In 2006 a Powder Coating plant was installed to service our own growing need and the needs of other associated Hawke’s Bay companies.

We have a fantastic, very loyal and hard working team with a huge amount of experience that we have built up over the past 40 years.
